Route 66 and Lake Mead (part 3)

Arizona was a favourite state of mine, it's so warm and the landscape is pretty impressive. Driving through Arizona they still had loads of road side shops selling indian crafts. We visited the petrified forest which was amazing, its named this as the trees had fallen into the rivers hundreds of years ago and turned into minerals, there were massive logs everywhere that were full of crystals. In the forest is also the painted desert...there were so many rock formations, we went on a little hike and explored some of the formations. So pretty. We explored the area near the forest but there wasn't much to do in the town so we moved on to the next town. We had our first pizza hut and ordered an Italian pizza, my god it was huge and embarrassing we couldn't finish it, we were actually no where near finishing.
We also visited the meteor crater which is the biggest and best kept In the world. We camped at the grand canyon and took loads of photos, we watched the sun set over the canyon too and I got so burnt from forgetting to put on sun cream. The view was pretty impressive but one of the high lights were some English men walking I front of us. "so how many do you think?" "how many what?" "you know, people fall off the canyon?" hahaha.
Arizona had a lot of things to see!
Next we drove to the Lake Mead we stayed at two different campsites for two nights. The lake is man made and huge, we spent the afternoon at one of the rock beaches and paddled in the sea. 😊 we took a day trip to the Hoover dam, tours were not available but we still looked around the dam, crossed the memorial bridge and drove over the dam. that night we slept in the car as the wind was so strong, the tent kept hitting Andy in the head lol. It was one of the worst nights sleep ever. In the morning we packed up our things and moved on to Las Vegas. Nevada.
