End of 66 and start of CA

We finished the rest of route 66 after leaving Vegas by visitng Calico, a ghost town. We wondered around for a bit but had to give up as it was far too hot and we could feel our skin burning. We finished our last night on route 66 by staying in a Wig Wam motel for the night. Harry potter was on when we arrived and we drank special flavoured sodas that we picked up in OK. The next day we drove to the airport to collext Sally and Stew before making our way to Hollywood. We were waiting for them for ages and even saw Sean Wright Phillips and some other footballer. I liked Hollywood, we stayed for 5 nights, got as close as we could to the Hollywood sign. Visited 6 flags (must do it) which was dead so we managed to get on a lot of the rides. We went to Santa Monica pier, We visited Universal Studios where we saw Kurt from Glee and the large white girl with glasses. I turned into a complete geek and took photos lol. I calmed down once they got on the tour cars with us. We saw whysteria lane (desperate house wives) the plane crash from war of the worlds, Bates motel from Psycho and some other cool film sets. We got to test our the new transformers ride before it was open which I thought was amazing haha. We also took a tour of WB studios which I only found out about through google but it was FANTASTIC. We saw so many sets my favourites being Merlottes bar and car lot area from True Blood, friends places - Gellers house, central park where phoebe runs weird and actual Central Perk. :) also saw the Big bang theory set!!!!!!! If you visit, you seriously have to do this. Our tour guide told us how to get tickets to watch sit coms being filmed so we ordered 4 to watch Sullivan and Sons which is produced by Vince Vaughnan, he was practically sat next to us as we got there so early and got amazing seats. The TV show airs in July on TBS my favourite channel over here! So you'll be able to hear us laughing
On episode 4. Before I forget vince waved at me. Ask Andrew... No one else had noticed he was there and I was clapping to myself like a loser. He must of thought I was special.

We moved onto Anaheim for
5 nights which had a heated pool and
A hot tub. We went to both parks is Disney and spent a day by the pool
where we all got incredibly burnt, mine being the worst because it's me!! Andrew and I went in the hot tub till 11pm one night because we are crazy!
We moved on to San Diego last for 4 nights. It's a beautiful place! We ate lots of great food, visited
Seaworld, went to the beach, went to a shopping mall and met Sally's cousin and bf who have no sense of time!!! Over all California has been good to us so far! X

Vegas baby!

We changed our plans and decided to come to Las Vegas earlier than planned. We booked a cheap hotel next to freemont street for 4 nights (gold spike) and the Stratosphere for 2 nights after that.
Our first hotel was good, it had good food, a pool and had recently been refurbished. It was perfect for how cheap it was. Freemont Street is amazing, it's a row of shops, casinos and restaurants with a massive tv canopy over the top of the street. The biggest tv in the planet apparently. Freemont also has the old classic casinos, golden nugget and some other one with a cow boy sign.
On our first day we got cheap tickets to some shows, the first being a cabaret show about old Vegas which was good for the money. The second was a hypnotist show. Didn't believe in in before but Deff do now :) after the show one of the girls from the audience was still hypnotised by accident and in tears. She went up to the guy who's show it was and he put her right to sleep in front of me, no one else was even watching they were too busy queuing for his merchandise. Haha.
We love Vegas, I forgot to mention that and when we first got here we had a few hours to spare and went to see The Avengers... If you havnt seen it... Do! Best film ever. We've also seen the 5year engagement whilst being here and the Hunger Games back in NYC. We love the movies!
We went up and down the strip a few times, had a look round the cosmopolitan hotel which was pretty.
As I write this its our last night in Vegas and we are sat in bed watching films and relaxing whilst trying to save money! :) but Vegas is seriously out of this world. Every things massive and it's so warm here even at night. We love you even if every 5 metres men and women are trying to hand hooker cards to my husband. We will be coming back! Tomorrow night will be spent in a WigWam motel in California before we pick up our friends in Los Angeles yay!

Route 66 and Lake Mead (part 3)

Arizona was a favourite state of mine, it's so warm and the landscape is pretty impressive. Driving through Arizona they still had loads of road side shops selling indian crafts. We visited the petrified forest which was amazing, its named this as the trees had fallen into the rivers hundreds of years ago and turned into minerals, there were massive logs everywhere that were full of crystals. In the forest is also the painted desert...there were so many rock formations, we went on a little hike and explored some of the formations. So pretty. We explored the area near the forest but there wasn't much to do in the town so we moved on to the next town. We had our first pizza hut and ordered an Italian pizza, my god it was huge and embarrassing we couldn't finish it, we were actually no where near finishing.
We also visited the meteor crater which is the biggest and best kept In the world. We camped at the grand canyon and took loads of photos, we watched the sun set over the canyon too and I got so burnt from forgetting to put on sun cream. The view was pretty impressive but one of the high lights were some English men walking I front of us. "so how many do you think?" "how many what?" "you know, people fall off the canyon?" hahaha.
Arizona had a lot of things to see!
Next we drove to the Lake Mead we stayed at two different campsites for two nights. The lake is man made and huge, we spent the afternoon at one of the rock beaches and paddled in the sea. 😊 we took a day trip to the Hoover dam, tours were not available but we still looked around the dam, crossed the memorial bridge and drove over the dam. that night we slept in the car as the wind was so strong, the tent kept hitting Andy in the head lol. It was one of the worst nights sleep ever. In the morning we packed up our things and moved on to Las Vegas. Nevada.

Route 66 part two

After driving the missouri route 66 alignment, it was time to move on to the small amount of miles in Kansas, 13 to be exact. Andy rescued a turtle that was trying to cross the road in this state and there were a few cool brides, one stating back to the 20s. We ate lunch in Cafe that used to be an old bank that was robbed by some famous guy but i can not remember his name grrr. I found a globe in an antiques store but it would of cost too much to ship back.
After Kansas it was time for Oklahoma, ok was warm, so warm we experienced a mini storm where the sky turned black we were sure we were going to end up in a tornado but there were no signs. We camped under a canyon and we drank random flavoured sodas, my favourite being Pepsi with a shot of raspberry yum! We also visited a round barn and the route 66 museum. We then moved on to Texas, now I'm sure I would of given this place more time if it wasn't for the storms, we had planned on camping but as soon as we crossed the state line the clouds went black, and it was black to land level, no inbetween, it was pretty scary! I got out my trusty google on my phone and there were weather warnings for near where we were so we scrapped the camping and got a motel for the night. We stayed at the big Texas motel which has a restaurant next to it when has the free 72 oz steak dinner if you can eat it all. Obviously we didn't attempt this but both munched our way through 18oz steaks whilst cowboys played their instruments for us. Our motel room was cowboy influenced, I loved it! It had fringe on the duvet and pillows and saloon doors through to the bathroom. Oh I also forgot to mention that the big Texas restaurant has some mean fudge. We bought quite a bit with my favourite being the peanut butter, I don't even like peanut butter!
After Texas is New Mexico where we currently are now, nm is beautiful every where you look there are mountains and canyons of various different colours, it's a view that i would never get used to. On our first couple of nights we stayed in Santa Rosa, then we moved on to Santa Fe followed by where we are now in Gallup, we did have a couple more stops planned but there was nothing to stay for so we moved along. I like Gallup, we are staying in a little log cabin but we will be moving on tomorrow, people aren't as friendly here but they are still friendlier than England. Oh I forgot to mention we also went to a museum just outside of Albuquerque, nm called Tinkertown, it was so cool! A man had carved so many wooden characters and set them up in various places like saloons or the circus, he is very talented. We also got our fortunes read by esmerellda.. Even though she's a machine I hope mine comes true as it mentioned lots of money ha!

Tomorrow we move on to Arizona, yay! So long New Mexico.
